15hh 5yo chestnut Irish gelding.
Quality compact model with good bone. A serious mover with an active trot and a super uphill, balanced canter. A comfortable and genuine ride, not sharp, nappy or strong under saddle. Trainable and willing, currently an unspoilt blank canvas with the basics ready for some education.
Good off the leg, just starting to take the contact now but our focus has been on getting him forward, confident and straight so he hasn't been hammered round the outside track with his head dragged in and we would appreciate it if people didn't spend 20 minutes on their viewing doing this.
He is popping a fence really sweetly, maintaining a good rhythm in and out. His real strength at the moment is hacking. He is brilliant to hack, marches out and is un-phased by all traffic. Will go first or last, good in open spaces. He is a quality, bright little horse not a brain dead kickalong so isn't going to be a horse for a complete novice or wet weekend.
Straightforward and rewarding young horse for a capable rider. Mannerly on the ground and wants to please but he is still a bit green and wary, especially of people he doesn't know yet. Please keep this in mind when viewing - if you are the kind of person who comes to view by flinging the door open, marching right up to a strange horse and grabbing at his legs before even a 'hi, how are you?' you might find him a bit skittish. If you take your time, introduce yourself to him properly and are willing to put a bit of time in to building a bit of trust it will go a long way. He likes people and attention but he does want someone he can trust and will really thrive from a close partnership. No vices.
15.2hh 4yo Connemara gelding William's Boy x Morrland MacDara.
Highly sought after over-height full Connemara. Smart stamp who is going to mature into something really special with the right rider. A real sweetheart in every way and incredibly rewarding to work with due to his kind, willing and trainable nature.
Riding well on the flat with 3 good paces and is a forward, responsive ride. He is a typically sensitive Connemara so needs a quiet, balanced rider. Will best suit a rider who will ride forward and support with the leg not ride backwards from the hand. Not at all spooky or strong, never nasty, hot or silly. Doesn't buck, rear, bolt, spin etc but can be sharp off the leg with an inconsistent rider. He is green (only 4 remember!) but straight and starting to take the contact well. Nicely balanced for his age with an active walk and trot and an uphill, rhythmical canter. Incredibly trainable, improves with every ride. Ready to go out and do a basic dressage test and has potential for BD.
Bold to a fence showing real class, will make a lovely allrounder with potential for BE under the right production. Ready to start schooling over courses and cross country fences.
Great to hack, good in traffic and open spaces. He is good to do on the ground and is a very sweet, kind horse with no vices. A real cuddly, personable horse with lots of character. Does very well on our yard but would thrive with a close relationship. A blank canvas with bags of potential in the right hands, ready to be produced.
15.3hh 4yo sabino maxi cob gelding.
Megacob Tom Doyle is a serious stamp with a seemingly self aware kind and gentle nature! Well marked and quality enough to show in time, will also be an allrounder, happy hacker or hunt for days. He is solid as a rock and built somewhere between a rhino and a tank with a bit of spark and a boldness you could go to war with. He just keeps marching on.
As you might have clocked he's a big boy and still only 4. If you are worried he might be too hench for you you are probably right. But if leg-in-each-corner, sturdy, willing nature, weightcarrier, made-of-bricks-and-a-fire-pit is what you're after, Tom Doyle's your guy! He is still green in his way of going (obviously, remember, he is only 4!) but has a super attitude and a stellar temperament.
Despite his build he is quite sporty and a forward, responsive ride who is neither strong nor sharp. I'm a 4'11" lady and if I can hold him, anyone can hold him! He has a good walk and a rideable, uphill canter with gears. His trot is workmanlike with plenty of room to improve but he is never going to be a big flashy mover. For a big lump Tom isn't a particularly heavy mover. Although not exactly a ballerina across the ground, he is hardly elephant-like and won't make the ground tremble. As he matures and strengthens he will lighten up even further and there's a lot of quality there to be a super allrounder.
Tom is super bold in everything he does. Has even been used to round up cattle! Unphased by coloured poles and natural obstacles, with the right rider he will jump anything and everything and would make an absolutely smashing hunter. Covers the ground well, mannerly and ready to get out on hound exercise.
Brilliant to hack. He marches on and has been a brilliant lead here for other youngsters and horses twice his age. Good on the roads and in open fields. Good to do on the ground and in all ways, no vices or quirks just green. He really is a super kind, genuine guy with so much quality and worth his weight in gold.
16.3hh 8yo registered ISH mare Clover Brigade x Cavalier Royale. Competed to 1.10m showjumping in Ireland as a 5yo with plenty of scope and ability to go on. Several maternal siblings eventing at international level up to 3*.
Exceptionally kind and gentle mare. Very balanced paces, riding well on the flat but hasn't done any dressage schooling. Still a little green in this area but improves with every session. Takes the contact well, easy to adjust and manoeuvre.
Has real class over a fence. Bold, powerful, scopey and careful and gives you an awesome feeling. The bigger the fence the better she jumps and makes it feel effortless. Very easy on the way in and out. Would introduce someone to competing or be ideal for a competent rider to take further. Has done a lot of cross country schooling and has also hunted. No ifs or buts. Would be absolutely cracking on the hunt field!
Excellent to hack and do on the ground in all ways. Not strong or silly. An easy, straightforward horse with no quirks or vices, just a quality horse with something about her.
Has been ridden here by a novice rider but due to her power and ability would prefer her to go to someone a bit more capable.
16.2hh 9yo black KWPN gelding Vleut (Quick Star) x Ferro.
Tall, dark and handsome with the most amazing temperament - Rio really is the full package.
Rio is the ultimate amateurs competition and leisure horse. He is well established, trustworthy, bold, straightforward and pretty!
Riding very well on the flat with 3 expressive, uphill paces. Would certainly do BD. Lateral work, medium work and flying changes. However! You do need good hands and to be able to ride a horse forward from your leg, or at least be willing to learn. He’s not a robot or a machine, if you ride him nicely he will go beautifully but if you pull and kick him about and try to pin his head into his chest you’re not going to get much of a tune. For someone willing to learn about riding kindly and correctly though he would be the ultimate schoolmaster.
For jumping Rio is a real professional and confidence giver. He is super bold and careful both showjumping and cross country. He has excellent length of stride for cross country and is easily in the money in a jump off without needing to push or take any risks. Has done some BE with a previous owner. Has done elite level Pentathlon at 1.10m, an absolute testament to his incredible temperament and ability. Scope for at least Foxhunter. Clever, quick thinking and athletic.
A gentleman in all environments. He is the one everyone wants to take hacking, excellent both alone and in company, in open fields and on the roads. He is a real go anywhere, do anything type of horse and nothing phases him. Good to do in the stable, very affectionate and loves a cuddle but isn't mad keen on Ideal for teenager or competitive amateur for affiliated competition or riding club.
Very sad sale of a much loved horse, if the right home isn’t found he will be kept on. Please call in the first instance to discuss, messages and texts will NOT be answered.
