Teddy
16.2hh 10yo bay British-bred Oldenburg gelding Cooper van de Heffink x Argentinus.
Teddy is a big, quality horse with a lovely old-fashioned Warmblood frame and sweet outlook. He has been in the same home for 2 years and his full history is known. Bred in the UK by the Corhampton Stud and initially produced for showjumping before focusing on dressage with his current owner, who is his third home.
Teddy has competed to Novice level dressage and is schooling Elementary at home. Competed regularly at unaffiliated and twice at BD at a home competition venue,
lockdown period and lack of finances sadly has restricted the amount of competition time. Average scores of high 60s/70%. He has 3 lovely, rideable, balanced paces and established lateral work and counter canter. Showing a natural ability for collection. Teddy is a forward and responsive ride who desperately wants to get it right for you. Great potential to produce up the levels for the right rider.
Teddy can be a sensitive soul and he so wants to please that he will always do his absolute best to answer any question you ask. He takes his confidence from his rider so requires a confident, capable, quiet rider who is able to ride from the seat.
Teddy has not been jumped by his current owner due to personal preference but we are told that he has competed previously up to 1.10m unaffiliated and really enjoys his polework. Teddy has been bred and produced to jump so he could make an interesting event prospect for the right rider. We have not jumped him here.
Teddy is good to hack both alone and in company and both on and off road.
A kind, genuine, sweet horse who really thrives on a close relationship with his person. He is a pleasure to have around and has never entertained a bad thought in his head. Good to do on the ground in all ways with no quirks or vices. Has loaded and traveled in a lorry, trailer and 3.5t. Good to clip, catch and with his feet.
Teddy can be a bit of a worrier and take a minute to settle and build his relationship with his new rider. Once he trusts you he will do anything for you but he does need a confident rider who is able to give him the time and space to get their relationship off to the best start.
Passed a 5 stage vetting in May 2020 and has no history of lameness or health issues with current owner. Teddy is a good doer with excellent feet and has been barefoot for the last 2 years with absolutely no issues. Will live in or out and gets on very well in a herd - he would prefer this to individual turnout.
For the right home Teddy really is the horse of a lifetime with so much to teach his rider but also so willing and able to learn.
