16.1hh 9yo Irish Draught mare Shenandoah Prince Holly x Carrabawn View. Well-seasoned hunter with cracking allround potential.
Bell is a beautiful model. Well put together with great presence and quality, and enough bone without being heavy. Upstanding and bright with a sweet outlook and lovely nature. Very genuine nature with a great attitude to her work.
Bell has been in the same home for 4 years where she has primarily been used for hunting and hacking with a lady rider. She has done 4 seasons as a subscriber with the Wilton, prior to which she did autumn hunting as a 4yo with the Blackmore and Sparkford. She has done a couple of days out autumn hunting this season already and is fit and ready to crack on with.
She has also enjoyed cross country schooling, hunter trials and some indoor showjumping clinics with the current owner. Bell spent this summer on loan to a young girl where she competed in dressage, showjumping and combined training events, often being placed. She also participated in cross country schooling and clinics, as well as lessons and clinics in other disciplines. Bell has all the potential to be a lovely riding club allrounder, with or without hunting. She is very willing to work and tries her best.
Bell rides well on the flat with good paces she is just a little bit weak in her way of going at the moment, particularly in the canter. This improves though with every ride and will be a factor in iincreasing her price as we do more with her. She is responsive to the leg and quietly forward but not at all sharp. She produces good work on the flat and is capable of producing a lovely test.
Bell is a proper jumper. She is bold to a fence and takes you in nicely without being strong. She stays rideable, keeps her rhythm well and is careful without feeling like she is going to pop you out the saddle. Plenty of potential to work with for showjumping, eventing or to continue hunting.
Bell is a mannerly ride, not sharp or strong and is always in a snaffle. She can get a bit hot when excited and have a bit of a 'woohoo' moment where she might shrug her shoulders or have a buck. Nothing nasty or particularly athletic just letting you know she is feeling well and having a good time!
Excellent to do on the ground, she will stand like a rock to be clipped, loads and travels on a lorry or trailer, isn't at all squeamish or touchy and is just easy to do everything with. Very straightforward, lives in or out, currently living out in a herd with other mares. She is great to hack and will go alone and in company. A bit brighter alone than in company but not particularly spooky or silly. Good in traffic, rides and leads both ways and is always in a snaffle, including for hunting.
Never sick or sorry, the only time she has needed the vet was 3.5 years ago when she had some sarcoids removed. These have never returned and the owner's insurance policy has not excluded them due to the length of time passed.
Bell is a lovely, straightforward horse but she is a proper sort who wants a forward thinking, confident, competent rider who wants more from life than the perfect 20m circle.
Price will increase as we do more with her.
